Preparing Your Space for a Storage Rack Delivery and Installation

Once you have selected your storage rack, preparation becomes a question of coordination: is the intended area clear, can the installation team reach it, and have you raised anything uncertain about the floor or delivery arrangements? These are the practical matters to resolve before the team arrives.

ASC Racking’s delivery and installation FAQs recommend clearing the installation area, ensuring the floor is level and providing adequate access. The FAQ also states that its team handles setup and cleanup. Your preparation should therefore focus on making the space available and communicating questions, while leaving installation to the professionals.

Start with the rack you actually ordered

Keep your order details available when discussing preparation. Refer to the selected product and the intended installation location together, rather than asking about a rack without identifying it. A useful opening message is: “This is the rack on my order, and this is the room or area where I want it installed. Is there anything you need me to clarify before delivery?”

If you need help identifying the product category, ASC Racking has separate listings for full metal racks and PVC laminated HDF board racks. Use those names to make your enquiry specific. These category pages do not establish the arrangements for your individual order; ask the team to confirm those directly.

Keep this conversation focused on the selected rack and its destination. If you have changed the intended location since ordering, explain that change before the visit. Do not assume an earlier discussion about one room also answers questions about another.

Clear the destination, then review access

Begin with the exact area where you expect the rack to stand. Decide which existing belongings need another location so that the installation area can be cleared beforehand. If the room is still in use, make a practical plan for when those belongings will be removed. An intention to clear the space later leaves an important preparation task unresolved.

Then consider access to that area separately. An empty installation spot does not answer whether the team can reach it. Look at the route you expect them to use and identify anything you need to discuss. Ask: “Is the access I have described adequate for this order?” The FAQ gives no universal clearance dimensions, so obtain order-specific guidance rather than relying on a number from another rack or property.

Review the destination and the route separately; unresolved access questions belong in the pre-delivery conversation.

If other people use the same space, agree internally which area will be available. For a shared storeroom, for example, identify whose belongings must be relocated and who will confirm that this has happened. This is a customer coordination checklist, not a requirement imposed by ASC Racking or a guide to moving heavy items.

Raise floor uncertainty before installation

ASC Racking’s FAQ explicitly asks customers to ensure the floor is level. If you are unsure about the intended location, tell the team what you are uncertain about and ask what information they need. Do not treat this article, an empty room or your own description as confirmation that a particular floor is suitable.

A useful question is: “I am unsure whether the floor at the proposed position meets your preparation requirement. How should I clarify this with you before installation?” If the team needs further information, follow up before treating that point as resolved. This guide does not provide floor-loading calculations, levelling methods or an engineering assessment.

Confirm actual property arrangements

Some preparation questions depend on your property rather than the product listing. Where relevant, ask the appropriate property contact about access arrangements, lift use, parking or building-management requirements. Then discuss any applicable restrictions with ASC Racking. Do not assume that a rule at a previous property applies here, or that a delivery booking automatically resolves a building requirement.

Frame these as questions to establish the facts: “Does this property require any access arrangement?” and “Have I told ASC Racking about the arrangement that applies?” If no such requirement applies, there is no need to create an extra procedure. The aim is to communicate actual conditions, not to invent paperwork or promise access on someone else’s behalf.

Use a preparation checklist with clear outcomes

The table below separates a completed customer task from a question that still needs an answer. Use it as a discussion aid for your order, rather than a technical certificate or an installation approval.

Preparation pointReady for handoffIf unresolved
Selected rackOrder details and intended location are available.Ask ASC Racking to clarify the product reference.
Installation areaThe intended area has been cleared.Arrange for existing belongings to be relocated beforehand.
Floor questionNo preparation question has been left unanswered.Describe the uncertainty and request guidance.
AccessThe intended route has been reviewed and questions raised.Ask whether the described access is adequate.
Property arrangementsApplicable requirements have been checked and communicated.Confirm actual arrangements with the relevant contacts.
Delivery discussionCurrent order arrangements have been confirmed directly.Contact ASC Racking rather than assuming a date or duration.

Keep unresolved items visible. A short note saying “access question awaiting reply” is more useful than marking the whole space ready while that question remains open. Once an answer arrives, record what was confirmed and whether you still need to do anything.

Send one clear pre-delivery message

Bring the preparation details together through the ASC Racking contact page. It lists phone and email contact options and a message form. Include the product reference, intended location, whether the area has been cleared, and any floor or access uncertainty. Ask the team to confirm the current arrangements for your order.

You could write: “I am preparing the space for my ordered rack. The intended installation area is [location], and clearing it is [completed or still pending]. My outstanding question is [specific floor, access or property issue]. Please confirm what you need from me and the arrangements for this order.” Replace the brackets with facts; omit points that do not apply.

Make the installation handoff straightforward

Before the agreed visit, review whether anything has changed since your last conversation. Is the intended area still available? Has something been placed along the access route? Has a property arrangement changed? Tell ASC Racking about a relevant change instead of assuming the earlier discussion still describes the space.

When the team arrives, identify the intended location and explain any outstanding point. Leave setup to the professional installation team. The useful customer handoff is a clear destination, available access and an accurate account of what has been confirmed. If something remains uncertain, raise it directly rather than treating the checklist as permission to proceed.
